Elmer Joseph Grossman, age 78 years of Sunman, IN passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Hospitality Hall in Batesville, IN.

Born January 16, 1928 in Dearborn County, IN he was the son of the late Joseph & Letha (White) Grossman. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, member of the Batesville VFW & American Legion and retired from Union Furniture Co. He married Zelma Sloan on June 29, 1970 in Clintwood, IN.

Mr. Grossman is survived by his wife Zelma Grossman, stepdaughters Virginia Blair of Holton, IN; Bernice Frost of Madison, IN; Kathy Dwenger of Madison, IN & Arlene Fullenkamp of Oldenburg, IN; brother Clarence Grossman of Harrison, OH; sister Alice Collins of Batesville, IN; 11 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Elnora Webb & Edna Marie Chandler and brother Ernest Grossman.

Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2006 from 5-8 PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN. Services will be Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Meyers Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Vice officiating. Burial will be in Little Memory Cemetery in Sunman, IN with graveside military rites. Memorials are suggested to Cancer Research.

Henry Herd, age 85 years of New Pennington, IN passed away Saturday, December 23, 2006 in Batesville, IN.

Born September 29, 1921 in Clay County, Kentucky he was the son of Elijah & Nella (Davidson) Herd. He retired from Romweber & was a US Army Veteran during WWII with a total of 26 years of service with the National Guard. He married Helen Doyle on May 17, 1946 in Covington, KY.

Mr. Herd is survived by his wife Helen Herd, daughter Anna Mae Hawkins of Rom, GA; sons William Herd of New Point, IN & Douglas Herd of Napoleon, IN; brothers Harry Herd & Blain Herd both of Fairborn, OH & sister Mary Grossman of Harrison, OH; 5 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 1 grandchild.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 5—8 PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN. Services will be Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Vice officiating. Burial will be in Rossburg Cemetery in New Point, IN with military graveside rites. Lucille W. Murphy, age 93 years of Lawrenceburg, IN passed away Friday, December 15, 2006 in Cincinnati, OH.

Born November 4, 1913 in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of the late William & Kathrine (Sullivan) Wallace. She married William J. Murphy and was a member of St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her daughters Mary Lee (John) Fay of Lawrenceburg, IN & Kathleen (late Roger) Skolnik of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Sharon, Laura & John Fay and great grandson Cole Donavan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William J. Murphy in 1998, 2 brothers & 1 sister.

Visitation will be Monday, December 18, 2006 from 10 to 11 AM followed by services at 11:00 AM all at St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross in Bright, IN. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Hospital for Children or St. Teresa Food Pantry.

Robert “Bill” H. Losekamp, age 82 of W. Harrison, IN passed away Thursday, December 14, 2006 in Cincinnati, OH.

Born November 24, 1924 in Harrison, OH he was the son of the late Joe & Cecelia (Knuf) Losekamp. He married Marianne Walter on July 28, 1956 in Harrison. Mr. Losekamp was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and a lifelong farmer.

He is survived by his wife Marianne Losekamp, children Joe (Kim) Losekamp, Peggy (Rick) Wolfram, Karen (Doug) Bischoff & Larry Losekamp; siblings Alma Lewe, John (Millie) Losekamp, William “Bill” (Betty) Losekamp & Jim (Charlotte) Losekamp; grandchildren Andy, Ben, Andrea, Mindy, Kristi, Matt, Ryan, Bobby & Mark. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by is daughter Lois Ann Losekamp.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 17, 2006 from 4 to 8PM at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, OH. Born September 28, 1932 in Harrison, OH he was the son of the late Earl & Dolores (Schwanener) Pope. He married Dolores O. “Babe” Hoerst on December 27, 1952 in Harrison. Mr. Pope was a farmer & land developer and in his younger days he was an active pilot. He was a US Army Veteran.

Mr. Pope is survived by his wife Dolores O. “Babe” Pope, children Rick (Susan) Pope of W. Harrison, IN; Jan (Dave) Gartenman of Guilford, IN; Ray (Janice) Pope of W. Harrison, IN; Kathy (Gene) Shepard of Cincinnati, OH; Margie (Joe) Geisler of Harrison, OH; Willie (Ann) Pope of Harrison, OH; Sharon (Dave) Lutz of Lawrenceburg, IN (Hidden Valley) & Phil (Lisa) Pope of Lawrenceburg, IN (Hidden Valley); 20 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brother John Pope & sister Eleanore “Sis” (Mick) Pope. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren.

Services were private, held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in Elizabethtown Cemetery with military graveside rites. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Dearborn County.

Mr. Newport was a salesman for Beautician Supply in Cincinnati, OH. He was a US Coast Guard Merchant Marine veteran, member of White Oak Christian Church.

Mr. Newport is survived by his wife Irene Newport; daughter Bonita Newport, sons Michael (Debora) & Clester Jerry (Sandra) Newport; grandchildren Brian, Jennifer, Sean & Dylan Newport, James Haas & Amy and brothers Ronald & Paul Newport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Lucille Uglum & Helen Hertzenburg.

Mr. Ballou retired in 1986 as a Chemical Operator for National Lead of Ohio. He was a WWII Navy veteran, a member of United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, IN & Harrison VFW, an avid hunter and he loved to farm & loved the outdoors. He was also a loving caregiver & companion for many people in need. He was a great fan of the Kentucky “Wildcats” Basketball, Cincinnati Reds and in younger years enjoyed going to wrestling matches with family at Cincinnati Gardens.

Born January 20, 1914 in Batesville, IN she was the daughter of the late George & Mary Lieu
(Owen) Schumacher. She retired from Romweber but worked most of her life in Indianapolis at Estherlein-Angus. She was a US Army Veteran during WWII & she was one of the first wemen in the WACS. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church & church choir in Batesville, member of Order Eastern Star Chapter 348 in Batesville & American Legion in Batesville.

Ms. Schumacher is survived by her niece Owenita Grubert, nephew Michael Schumacher and great nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters June & Edith Schumacher & brother Owen Schumacher.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 5, 2006 from 2-4 pm followed by services at 4:00 PM all at St. Mark Lutheran Church with Pastor Thomas Wietzel officiating. OES Services will be at 3 PM. Military Funeral Rites will follow the funeral on Sunday. Family Graveside Services will be held Monday at Greendale Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Born March 11, 1952 in Indiana he was the son of the late Sarah Patrick. He drove a sweeper truck for Contract Sweepers and was a US Marine. He married Gina Steele on August 6, 1975.

Born February 2, 1914 in Franklin County, IN he was the son of the late William & Selma (Belter) Wessel. He was a life long farmer for 62 years. On October 5, 1940 he married Edna Krieger at Crossroads church in Batesville. Mr. Wessel was a member of St. John United Church of Christ where he was Elder Emeritus, member of the church Brotherhood, Decatur Co. Farm Bureau and on the Advisory Board of Salt Creek Township in Decatur Count for 32 years.

He is survived by his son Harold (Kay) Wessel of Greensburg, IN; grandchildren Chuck Sheppard, Allen Wessel, Sara Wessel, Tonya Wessel and Andrea Choong; great grandchildren Megan Sheppard, Madison Sheppard, Cameron Choong & Allen Isaiah Wessel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Edna Wessel, daughter Margaret Sheppard, brothers Orval Wessel & Lawrence Wessel and sister Mildred Orr.

He was a graduate of Batesville High School and Purdue University, Navy Veteran of WWII and retired from Bethlehem Steel with 50 years of service. Raymond was a member of the Indiana Harbor Masonic Lodge #686 F.&A.M. He was head of the York Rite Chapter #117 RAM, Council #90 RSM; Commandery #41 KT; member of the North West Indiana York Rite College #73 and life member of the Elk Lodge #981.

Winford Lewis, 71, of Sunman, IN went to be with his Lord on August 7, 2006.
He was born September 22, 1934 in Elliottville, KY to Curtis E. and Lucy Lambert Lewis. A 1952 graduate of Morehead High School and a 1956 graduate of Morehead State College, he was also a veteran of the United States Army. He married Iloma Joyce McClurg on October 23, 1954 at the First Church of God in Morehead, KY.
Winford was employed as a Division Controller with Dana Corporation for 39 years, retiring in 1998. He had worked at Perfect Circle in Hagerstown, IN, Victor Gasket in Chicago, IL and Drivetrain Service Division in Toledo, OH.
He had served in many churches as an elder and church treasurer. Most recently he was head of the Stewardship Committee and an Elder of the Providence Presbyterian Church in Bright, IN.
He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his precious granddaughter, gardening, traveling and communicating with family and friends via e-mail and phone. Winford was also a talented musician and an avid fan of the UK Wildcats and the Cincinnati Reds.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, a daughter Teresa L. Lewis of Connersville, IN, a son and daughter-in-law Steven D. and Trisha L. Lewis and a grandaughter Natalie L. Lewis. all of Maineville, OH. Other survivors include a sister Juanita Marlene (Claude) Turner and a brother R. Clinton Lewis, both of Elliottville, KY, an uncle S. Clay Lewis and aunts Dottie Lewis, Bessie Lambert and Marie Lewis and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, L. Eugene and Alton Lewis.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 9 from 5 to 8 PM at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, OH. Services will be Thursday at 10:30 AM with visitation one hour prior at the Providence Presbyterian Church in Bright, IN. Born October 18, 1915 in Hancock County, TN; she was the daughter of the late Eugene & Sarah (Vaughn) Livesay. She married Dallas T. Kelly on November 4, 1939 in Lynch, KY. Mrs. Kelly taught 3rd grade at Harrison Elementary until she retired in 1979. She was a member of the Harrison & New Trenton United Methodist Churches and long time member of DAR.

Mrs. Kelly is survived by her sons Dallas (Nora) Kelly of Cleves, OH & Roscoe (Margie) Kelly of Harrison, OH; sisters Eugenia (James Edward) Duncan of Hampton, VA and Beatrice Little of Rantoul, IL; brother William (Carol) Livesay of Salem, IN; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Oral Livesay and sister Claudia Henke.

Visitation will be Friday, June 30, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. followed by services at 3:00 P.M. all at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, OH with Pastor Malcolm Greene officiating. Robert Waite Cross, age 85 years of Sunman, IN passed away Saturday, June 24, 2006 in Batesville, IN.

Born August 6, 1920 in Burlington, KY he was the son of Waite & Rachel (Wilson) Cross. He was a US Army Veteran during WWII. He married Jean Johnson on July 3, 1940 in Cincinnati, OH. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Penntown, IN. Mr. Cross was the company owner and Livestock Broker for Norris and Brock Company at the Cincinnati Stsockyards. He was a member of, and Past President of the National Livestock Exchange, Past Director of the National Livestock and Meat Board, Past President of the Carthage Fair Board, and Past Master of the Collage Hills F&AM for over 60 years.

Mr. Cross is survived by his wife Jean Cross; son John Cross of San Angelo, TX; daughters Joan Williams of Miami, FL and Christine Richter of Sunman, IN. He will also be missed by his 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Robert Cross.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. followed by services at 1:00 P.M. all at St. John United Church of Christ in Penntown with Rev. Craig Amlin & Rev. Juanita Wallpe officiating. Edna Baither, died June 22, 2006 at Greenwood, IN. She had retired from teaching in Bradenton, FL and was living in Greenwood, IN. She was formerly from Whitewater Township, Franklin Co., IN. Edna graduated from Miami University, Oxford, OH in 1961. Born in Brookville, IN June 26, 1908, her parents were Gustave & Katherine Fritz Baither. She married Joe Glascock in 1929. He preceded her in death November 30, 1987. A brother, Maynard and sister Ruth York, also preceded her in death.
Survived by brother Roy Baither of Bradenton, FL and 5 children: Joe Jr.; Jim (Peggy) of Cedar Grove; Pat Roark, Greenwood, IN; Ellen (Frank) Siemens, Renwick, IA and Bob (Becky) Newport Beach, CA; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was a member of Brookville Christian Church (Church of Christ), Macedonia Christian Church and West Side Christian Church, Bradenton, FL.
A Memorials Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2006 at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 513, Harrison, OH 45030 with a short service to follow at Highland Cemetery, Independence, KY.

Ella Hisrich (nee Wipple), age 95 years of Batesville, IN passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in Batesville.

Born May 26, 1911 in Mt. Vernon, IN she was the daughter of the late Jasper & Emma Wipple. She graduated from University of Cincinnati School of Nursing with and RN Degree, was instrumental in forming the Candy Stripers at Margaret Mary Community Hospital and was the former first secretary for the Ripley County Health Board for over 30 years. She was a 50 year member of OES #348 and lifetime member of Culver Academy Mothers Club. She married Lloyd W. Hisrich, MD in Eaton, OH on August 16, 1936 and was a member of the Batesville United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hisrich is survived by her sons William Hisrich of Batesville, IN and Robert Hisrich of Cleveland, OH. She will also be missed by her 5 grandchildren Elizabeth Hisrich, Kelly Nash, Kary Hisrich, Angie Hisrich and Katy Hisrich, 4 great grandchildren Kyle Hisrich, Ayana Hisrich, Cody Hisrich and Rachel Nash. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother J. Herbert Wipple and sister Thelma Hauser.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 24, 2006 from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at 12:30 P.M. all at Batesville United Methodist Church with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Born March 5, 1913 in Laughery Township, IN he was the son of the late Albert Henry & Anna Margaret (Wiete) Bultman. He married Verna Kessens on September 26, 1965 at St. Paul Crossroads Church. Mr. Bultman retired from the Union Furniture Co. in 1978 and was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church, church Brotherhood and Sunday School.

He is survived by his nieces Mary Lou Wehr of Batesville, IN and Elsie High of Cincinnati, OH; nephew John Huneke of Prospect, KY and also cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Verna Bultman and sister Mildred Huneke.

Mrs. Borgman is survived by her husband Malcolm Borgman; daughter Peggy (Vernon) Rennekamp of St. Mary, IN; sons Kenneth (Rita) Borgman of Osgood, IN; Richard Borgman of Taylor Mill, KY; Thomas (Gloria) Borgman of Osgood, IN; Paul (Donna) Borgman of Osgood, IN and Steven Borgman of Cincinnati, OH; sister Viola Borgman of Morris, IN; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Mr. Weber is survived by his wife Helen Weber, sons Mark (Mary) Weber of Batesville, IN and Gary (Sherry) Weber of Riverside, CA and daughter Lori (David) Hubbard of Elkhart, IN. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Mehgan Ray, Kelsi Ray, Lindsey Weber and Mason Weber. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister.

She married Gilbert “Gil” Morris on June 28, 1946 in Harrison, OH. She worked for US Shoe, was a cook at Harrison Elementary School for 20 years, a Girl Scout Leader, member of the card club and started the Friday night High School Football Team dinners.

Richard Lee Lemen, age 71 years of Batesville, IN passed away Monday, March 6, 2006 in Batesville.

Born June 19, 1934 in Osgood, IN he was the son of Chancie & Naomi (Black) Lemen. He was a 1952 graduate of Versailles High School, 1956 graduate of Purdue University and received his Masters in Education from Indiana University in 1965. He started his teaching career in the fall of 1956 at Batesville High School. He taught science for 8 years and coached football, basketball and track. He served one year as assistant principal and was appointed principal in 1965, a position he held until he retired in 1992. Mr. Lemen received numerous awards and commendations during his career. Perhaps the most coveted is the Indiana Secondary School Administrator. A majority of the Secondary Schools in Southeastern Indiana voted for Mr. Lemen because of his outstanding career as an administrator. He was a member of the Batesville Lion Club, Indiana State Retired Teachers Assoc. Versailles Lodge F&AM No. 7, Scottish Rite & Murat Shrine both of Indianapolis, IN; Order of the Eastern Star and member of the Batesville United Methodist Church. He married Kathryn Bray on October 6, 1956 at Baptist Church in Versailles.

Mr. Lemen is survived by his wife Kathryn Lemen, daughters Vicki Thoman of Greensburg, IN; Karen (John) Mollaun of Indianapolis, IN; Mary Jane (Sam) Harris of Hendersonville, TN and son Roger Lemen of Batesville, IN; six grandchildren; siblings Sherman Lemen of Osgood, IN; Mary Ellen Hammersley of Frankfort, IN; Eva Crum of Madison, IN; Phyllis Courtaney of West Lafayette, IN and Winnie Hetrick of Pennsylvania. He was a life long farmer, member of the St. John United Church of Christ and former choir member. He was also a member of the Rush County Pioneer Club, Batesville Lodge 668 F&AM and former 4H leader.

Mr. Flodder is survived by his son Jerry Flodder of Columbus, IN; daughters Joan Westerfeld of Batesville, IN; Carol Dial of Batesville, IN and Phillis Hoy of Ft. Myers, FL. He will also be missed by his 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and his sister Ruth Wissel of Richmond, IN. Born March 24, 1949 in Hamilton, OH he was the son of Alice (Moak) and the late Floyd Grubbs. He retired in 1970 from the Marines and was also in the Army from 1972—1974. He was a Sergeant 1st Class during Vietnam. Mr. Grubbs was a member of the Harrison VFW #7570.

Mr. Grubbs is survived by his mother Alice Grubbs of W. Harrison, IN; sisters Faye Hicks of Bright, IN and Darlene (Dennis) Emery of W. Harrison, IN and son Billy of Florida. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers Donald & Roy “Buddy” Grubbs.

Visitation will be Monday, February 27, 2006 from 5-8pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, OH. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Harold Shackelford officiating. Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Harrison Funeral Detail. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her son Ken (Dollie) Wolf of Logan, IN and daughter Judy (Dennis) Livengood of W. Harrison, IN; brothers Alfred Hicks of Port Charlotte, FL and Clyde Hicks of Clay County, KY; sisters Paulina Houston of Batesville, IN; Vergie Cowens of Clay County, KY and Eunice Bunner of New Castle, IN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Samuel Anderson and Walter Johnson; son Larry Anderson; 1 grandson; brothers Monroe, Lee & Voyd Hicks and sister Matilda Hall.

Mr. Sacksteder is survived by his wife of 30 years Karen Sacksteder, sons Eric and Ryan Sacksteder both of Harrison, OH; brother Randy (Robin) Sacksteder of Harrison, OH; 3 nieces and 5 nephews.

On September 11, 1965 he married Judy Reed in Harrison, OH. He was a board member and member of the Batesville Assembly of God.

Mr. Kor is survived by his wife Judy Kor, daughters Sheila Hardy of Sunman, IN and Sheryl Gross of Sunman, IN; grandchildren Erica Hardy, Brandon Hardy, Jessica Hardy, Sara Redelman and John Redelman. He will also be missed by his brothers Donald Kor of Sunman, IN and John Kor of Phoenix, AZ.

She married Ron Borgman on July 28, 1956 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville. She was a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church Crossroads.

Mrs. Borgman is survived by her husband Ron Borgman, daughters Vicki Lawrence of Batesville, IN; Valerie Brown of West Chester, OH and Trina Huber of Sunman, IN; sons David Borgman of Batesville, IN and Darrell Borgman of Morris, IN; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren & sister Becky Rosemeyer of St. Petersburg, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Golda Fasbinder.
