Alfred E. Smith, age 71 years of Batesville, IN passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at his home. Born December 31, 1937 in Batesville, he was the son of the late Raymond H. & Ellen (Crowell) Smith. Mr. Smith was a US Marine Corp. Veteran, member of the Batesville American Legion Post 271 & Batesville Eagles 1130. He worked for Clark Construction and retired from Bob Cooper Construction. An avid Yankees fan, he was able to attend a game at their stadium with friends a few years ago. He is survived by his children Lonnie Smith, Lloyd Smith & Lori Smith; significant other Patti Walke and siblings Sally Wilhelm & Wayne Smith both of Batesville. He will also be missed by 4 grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 5-7pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 7:00 pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN with military honors to follow. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion.
