Alvin Herman Wessel, age 92 years of Greensburg, IN passed away Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born February 2, 1914 in Franklin County, IN he was the son of the late William & Selma (Belter) Wessel. He was a life long farmer for 62 years. On October 5, 1940 he married Edna Krieger at Crossroads church in Batesville. Mr. Wessel was a member of St. John United Church of Christ where he was Elder Emeritus, member of the church Brotherhood, Decatur Co. Farm Bureau and on the Advisory Board of Salt Creek Township in Decatur Count for 32 years. He is survived by his son Harold (Kay) Wessel of Greensburg, IN; grandchildren Chuck Sheppard, Allen Wessel, Sara Wessel, Tonya Wessel and Andrea Choong; great grandchildren Megan Sheppard, Madison Sheppard, Cameron Choong & Allen Isaiah Wessel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Edna Wessel, daughter Margaret Sheppard, brothers Orval Wessel & Lawrence Wessel and sister Mildred Orr. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from 4-7 PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John United Church of Christ with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Rossburg Cemetery in New Point, IN. Memorials are suggested to St. John Church or the American Heart Fund.
