Obituary

Archie Lester Ruble age 86, of New Point, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg, IN. The son of Joseph and Stella (Blair) Ruble was born on February 2, 1928 in New Point, IN.

Like many boys of that era, Archie lied about his age to enlist in the U.S. Navy and served in WWII. After the war, Archie married Wanda May Pursley in Greensburg on June 30, 1951. He worked at Union Furniture in Batesville for many years retiring in 1991. He then went to work for New Point Products which he enjoyed very much, retiring from there on December 31, 2012.

Archie was a New Point man through and through. Coached little league baseball, umpired baseball, was a volunteer fireman at the New Point Fire Dept. for many years, and built the back drop of the nativity scene at New Point Christian Church, of which he was a member. Archie loved most all sports, but was an avid Cincinnati Reds and I.U. fan. He was a very caring and kind person doing almost anything for almost anyone. He was well respected in his community and will be missed by his many friends and family very much.

Archie is survived by his two sons Thomas (Mary Beth) Ruble of Greensburg and Ernest (Ann) Ruble of Columbus, IN; four daughters Rebecca (Randy) Schebler of Batesville, Stella (Ronald) Pyles of Sardinia, IN, Sandra (Gary) Hamer of Greensburg and Nelrose (Michael) Price of Greensburg; along with his sister Nelrose Cook of Greensburg, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Allen-Folson and brothers John R., Jerry, Joseph Jr., James, Calvin & Lowell Ruble.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 5-8 pm with funeral services at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 9th, all at Meyers Funeral Home, 1150 State Road 46 E in Batesville, with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will follow at the Rossburg Cemetery in New Point, IN.
