Obituary

Barry Wayne "Butch" Shook age 56 of Batesville, IN died peacefully Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at The Waters of Batesville. Barry was born August 21, 1957 in Batesville, son the of the late Ronald Shook and Rebecca (Webster) Shook. Although small in size, Barry accomplished many things in life. He graduated from Batesville High School in 1975, and went on to receive his BA in Finance Economics from Ball State University and a Masters from Xavier University. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 33. Barry went on to become a professional Boy Scout retiring as the District Executive in Kalamazoo, MI. After retiring he became the manager of the Knights of Columbus Center in Batesville. One of the things Barry liked the most was to cook and he was very good at it. Barry was a very giving person his whole life and never did anything half way, always gave 110 percent. This is why his family was not surprised and very honored when Barry decided to donate his body to the University of Cincinnati for research. For Barry, it just seemed fitting. Barry is survived by his brothers Joseph Shook and his wife Sue of Batesville, Kevin Shook of Batesville, Brian "Scott" Shook of Batesville, and a sister Teri Lyn Hughes of Texas. Along with special friend of the family Charles Winburn of Batesville and his nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. On Saturday, February 15, 2014 family and friends may call from 1-2pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm all at Meyers Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Flory officiating. Memorials may be given to the Boy Scouts of America or Phi Beta Psi Sorority for cancer research.
