Mrs. Bernice M. Peters, 89, a lifelong resident of Decatur County died Friday, April 11, 2014 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg, IN. Shehad been in gradual failing health for the past few months.

Born August 1, 1924 in Decatur County, IN she was the daughter of William and Gertrude (Vogel) Schoentrup. She was a member of the Batesville Christian Church, the local Greensburg VFW Post #5584 and the Live N' Learn Home Economic Club, in addition shehelped with a food ministry in New Point, IN. Bernice was an expert seamstress having worked at Fashion Frocksin her early years ofmarriage in Hamilton, OH. She was a home gardener of fresh fruits and vegetables and led an active, industrious lifestyle. She enjoyed hobbies of quilting and flower gardening.

Bernice was united in marriage to William H. Peters on November 29, 1946 near Aurora, IN and he survives.

She is survived by her four children, William L. (Rose Marie) Peters of Murfreesboro, TN, Cynthia M. (Peters) Grote of Greensburg,Kenneth N. (Rita) Peters of Greensburg and Betsy L. (Tony) Baugh of Napoleon, IN, along with 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters, Thelma (Schoentrup) Huber,Paul Schoentrup, Dorothy(Schoentrup) Morgan, Robert Schoentrup, Zeta Mae Schoentrup, Irvin Schoentrup, Mary Schoentrup and Karl William Schoentrup.

Visitationwill be Monday, April 14, 2014from 3-7pmimmediately followed by 7pm funeral services, all at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Burial will be at the Kingston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be given to the Banner Alzheimer's Foundation c/o the funeral home.
