Bobby Ray Boyd, age 73, of Batesville, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.
He was born on April 14, 1941 in Somerset, KY to James Oscar & Cora (Whitis) Boyd. Bobby worked at Sears, as a mechanic, as an independent mail carrier, and at Walmart. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969 during the Vietnam Conflict where he was a driver for the Battalion Commander. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and of the NRA.
On September 17, 1977, he married Mary Jane Obermeyer. He enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, watching American Pickers and Barrett Jackson Auctions, and hanging out with dogs Lexie, Harley, and Charlie. His hobbies included restoring Whizzer bicycles and Rupp's motorcycles, fishing, horseback riding and collecting knives.
Bobby will be missed by his wife Mary Jane; daughter Amanda (Jeff) Warix of Lynchburg, OH; stepchildren Wanda (David) Siebert of Greensburg, IN, Polly (James) Kruthaupt of Batesville, IN, Brenda (Leonard) Eckstein of Batesville, Tammy (Terry) Moore of Brookville, IN and Bryan (Toni) Back of Batesville; grandchildren Jennifer & Michelle Siebert; Doug, Andy, and Brad Kruthaupt, Maria & Cody Moore, Morgan Fittro, & Avery Warix; great granddaughter Aubrey Kruthaupt; brothers James (Deke) Boyd, Leon Boyd, and sister Norma Barnes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Veryl (Tony) Boyd, William Boyd, and Donald Boyd and sister Rosemary Adams.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 9am until time of services at 11:00am at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN with Pastor Robin Owen officiating. Military Funeral Rites will follow the service at the funeral home.
