Obituary

Carter Powell, 93, of Morris, Indiana passed away January 24, 2022 at Envive Healthcare in Lawrenceburg.

He was born to Sidney Sr. and Sallie (Murphy) Powell on August 17, 1928 in Madison County, Kentucky.

Carter proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later retired from Hill-Rom in 1992. After his mother passed away, he came home and took care of his siblings which prevented them from being split up.

He could usually be found sitting out on his front porch and waving to folks who drove by. Carter always seemed to have a story to tell and enjoyed telling them as well.

Carter is survived by his brothers, Sidney Powell Jr. (Lillian), Ernie Powell (Hilda), Elmer Powell (Lois), James Powell (Clare); sister, Helen Yorn; and sister-in-law, Mary Powell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Sallie Powell; brother, Joe and Shelton Powell; sisters, Margaret Perry and Violet Reynolds.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with funeral services on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial will follow at Batesville Methodist Cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by the Batesville VFW Post #3183 and Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271.
