Charles Riley Douglas, 84, of Batesville passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Margaret Mary Hospital. He was born on August 17, 1940 in Shelbyville, Indiana as the son of Clarence and Goldie (Howard) Douglas.
Charles was employed at Romweber Furniture for 22 years prior to his retirement in 2006. After high school graduation, he served in the United States Air Force. Charles had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. He also took great pride in woodworking. Charles married Doris Sarringhaus in November of 1965 and spent 59 years together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris; daughters: Sherry Cloud, Sheila Guidi, Angel Dobry, Teresa Jett, Tami (Eric) Ertel; son, Michael (Bethany) Douglas; 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; brother, Bill Douglas.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Clarence Howard Douglas, Raymond Douglas, Morris Douglas; sisters: Sadie Kuwamoto and Linda Bell; granddaughter, Alexa Ertel.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Martin Bornhoef officiating all at Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. John Lutheran Church or Manderley Health Care Center Activities Department by bringing to services or mailing to Meyers Funeral Home, PO Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
