Obituary

Charles Raymond Lunsford, age 90 of Batesville, Indiana passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at his home.  The son of Benjamin and Flossie Lunsford was born on April 21, 1927 in Danville, Kentucky.

The 1948 graduate of Junction City High School, left to join the US Army Air Corp during WWII. While serving he worked with the US Navy on the A-bomb.   After 20 + years, Charles retired then from what became known as the US Air Force.    After retiring from the military, he went to work as an insurance salesman and became a preacher for 20 years with the Church of Christ.  Charles was a member of the Church of Christ At St. Leon, and a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV.

In his younger years, he liked to go bowling and fishing.  In the last couple years, he could be found at the local YMCA shooting pool and walking or out at McDonald's having coffee, where he recently celebrated his 90th birthday.  Charles was a big talker.  He loved preaching and serving the Lord, which was the most important thing in his life.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Charles will be dearly missed by his daughter, Susan Craddock of Batesville, son Charles Wayne Lunsford (Vondetta) of Clarksville, IN, and William Benjamin Lunsford (Gloria Convery) of Lebanon, KY; grandchildren, Kim Inabnit, April Frye, Andrew Craddock, and Cameron Lunsford; great grandchildren, Karly, Madilyn, Logan & Cooper Frye, Kristin Mills and Lauren Inabnit; great-great grandchildren, Khloe & Daylen Mills; and one sister Wilma Thompson of Junction City, KY.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, brother Harold Lunsford, sisters Doris Wilder, Frances Swain and Ada Ross along with a granddaughter Stephanie Craddock.

Visitation will be Friday, September 29, 2017 from 4-6pm with Funeral Service 6pm all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville.  Officiating by Larry Beard and Floyd Brown.  Military Services will follow immediately after at the funeral home.

Burial will be Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN.

Memorials may be given to the Friends of Cincinnati Fisher House, serving hospitalized veterans and their families c/o the funeral home.
