Charma Gae Salyer

Charma Gae Salyer, 93, of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

She was born on November 16, 1932, in Mayking, Kentucky, the daughter of Oscar and Lydia (Kincer) Pace.

On September 17, 1955, she married Noah Salyer Jr. in Letcher County, Kentucky. They shared 34 years together until his death on June 4, 1990.

Charma loved to stay busy. She taught school, then worked in the obstetrics department at Margaret Mary Hospital, and later made her living in various restaurants. At home she was happiest in the kitchen—cooking, canning, and keeping her hands at work. She passed quiet hours with her crosswords. Most of all, she loved watching University of Kentucky basketball.

She is survived by her children, Chris (Jenny) Salyer, Kenny Salyer, Paul Salyer, Jon Salyer, and Melissa Salyer; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Kathy.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her son, Bart; her daughter, Mary Rojaina; her brothers, Vernon, Robert, and Owen Harold; and her sisters, Glenna, Ethel, Margaret, Eileen, Lou, and Rebecca.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the United Methodist Cemetery in Batesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Margaret Mary Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association by bringing them to the services or mailing them to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
