Clara Louise Pohlar, age 88 of Batesville, IN passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 in Dayton. Born July 26, 1923 in Batesville, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Butler & Estelle Myrtle (Duncan) Boggess. The 1941 graduate of Sunman High School married Henry George Pohlar & worked for many years at Peoples Bank of Sunman. She later worked with her husband in the building contractor business doing the books. She was a 50+ year member of St. John United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aid in Penntown. Clara loved her church and if something was going on at church, she was involved. Clara is survived by her son and his wife Leonard & Diane Pohlar of Dayton, OH and daughter Juanita Deppe of Parker City, IN. She will also be missed by her 6 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, siblings Lionel Alvin Boggess and Belva Bauman and two siblings who died as infants. Visitation will be Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 4-7pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Funeral Services will be Monday, August 15, 2011 at 10:30am at St. John United Church of Christ in Penntown, IN with Rev. Peter Frye officiating. Burial will be in St. John Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John Church Building Fund c/o the funeral home.
