Clarence Bernard Meyer, of Batesville, IN passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 only a few days shy of his 95th birthday. Born on November 22, 1916 in Batesville, IN to Fred and Lillie (Stickford) Meyer as one of seven children. Clarence married Della Beinke on August 31, 1940 at St. John United Church of Christ, Huntersville. Clarence farmed his entire working life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and always had a large garden. In his later years, he became a good cook and loved baking chocolate chip cookies. He also enjoyed taking produce and participating in the Farmer's Market. Always willing to help the neighbors, he often left what he was doing to lend a hand, including the winter, when he pulled anyone out of the snow banks when they slid off the roads. He helped with the construction of several homes and buildings too. Clarence was a lifetime member of St. John UCC, Huntersville, serving on the Sunday School and Church Boards and a Brotherhood member. He and his wife visited the sick and elderly of their church for many years. They were also instrumental in setting up the Harvest Home display in church each fall, providing most of the produce. He will be truly missed by his wife, sons, Donald (Suzette) Meyer of Columbus, IN and Wallace (Eunice) Meyer of Osood,IN; daughters Lavonne (Gayle) Sarringhaus of Batesville, DeVota (Gary) Weberding and Lucinda (John) Wilhelm both of Sunman; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; brothers Monroe (Luella) Meyer of Batesville and Wilbur Meyer of Zephyrhills, Fl. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Delia Narwold, Esther Narwold, Flora Thie and Irene Thie along with 3 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Visitation, Monday, November 21, 2011 from 4-7pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Funeral Services, Tuesday, November 22, 11:00 at St. John UCC, Huntersville with burial to follow in the St. John Church Cemetery. Rev. David Johnston officiating.
