Danny Ray Canterbury, 77, of Sunman passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg, IN. He was born in Crown, West Virginia on October 23, 1947 as the son of Herbert and Elenora (New) Canterbury.

He married Patricia Canterbury on August 9, 1974 in Sailor Park, Ohio and she preceded him in death.

Danny proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a dedicated member of the Sunman Masonic Lodge #590 and the Sunman American Legion Post 337. A familiar face at the Sunman Dive, he enjoyed sharing meals and laughter with friends. He had a passion for collecting trains and enjoyed watching airplanes. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. Danny had a great sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.

Danny is survived by his children: Jason (Jessica) Canterbury, of Newport, Kentucky and Josh (Brenna) Canterbury, of Flagstaff, Arizona; 2 grandchildren: Kinley and Hayden Canterbury; brother, Roger (Lois) Canterbury; sisters: Trisha (Wendell) Schmidt and Jean Crosby; close family friends, Brian (Erica) Alsip and their children, Conner and Zeke; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 3:00 pm, all at Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman, with military honors conducted by Sunman American Legion Post 337.

Following the services, friends and family are invited to a meal at the Sunman American Legion.
