Donald Lawrence Browning, age 75 years of Batesville, IN passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, IN. Born May 14, 1933 in Dillsboro, IN he was the son of the late Cleve & Josephine (Bosaw) Browning. He married Bernell Shepherd on October 1, 1955 in Lawrenceburg, IN. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2008. He was a Sgt. 1st Class US Army Retired serving 28 years & was very proud of serving with his 2 sons Gandy & Jeff. Mr. Browning retired from Hill-Rom and worked as a transportation aide for the Batesville Public School Corp. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Greensburg, IN, Batesville Lodge 668 F&AM, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Murat Shrine & Southeast Indiana Shrine Club. He enjoyed being in parades & transporting children to the hospital, both for the Shrine Club. Mr. Browning is survived by his daughter Ramona Moody (Keith) of Batesville, IN and 3 sons Gandy Browning of Batesville, Jeff Browning (Allison) of Kannapolis, NC & Gregory Browning (Linda) of Columbus, IN; fiancee Jean Preston of Greensburg, IN; 8 grandchildren Donald, Janeen & Jenna Browning, Jordan Sanchez, Mallory Seitz, Koren & Keith Moody II & Christian Wolfe; Great Grandchildren Milia Scheele & Brayden Browning along with 1 brother Robert Browning (Grace) of Rising Sun, IN and 2 sisters Mini Stevens (Dave) of Marion, IN & Beatrice Williams (Late Leroy) of Hartford, IN. In addition to his parents & wife he was also preceded in death by his brothers William, Demmett, Ralph & infant Harry Browning and sisters Margaret "Peg" Baker & Gertrude Drew. Visitation will be Monday, April 13, 2009 from 4-8pm at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN with Masonic services at 8pm. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 11:00am at the Wesleyan Church in Greensburg, IN with Pastor Doug Preston officiating. Burial will be in Vevay Cemetery in Vevay, IN with military graveside rites. Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children or Wesleyan Church c/o the funeral home.
