Doris Jean Powell, 78, of Batesville, Indiana, died Saturday, September 5 at Margaret Mary Health. Born September 19, 1936, she was the daughter of Melvin and Lydia (Huneke) Steinfort. The 1954 Sunman High School graduate was a member of Adams Lutheran Church, where she was part of the Ladies Aid, and former choir member and organist. Doris also spent time volunteering at Margaret Mary Health and was a member of the Powell Family Singers. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Joseph Powell; son, James (Stephanie) Hill; step-children Terry (Rosemary) Powell, Bright, Kim (Vicky) Powell, Batesville, Robin (Gary) Schornick, Batesville, and Amy (David) Ruggles, Lexington, KY; along with her sister, Phyllis Bergman, and brother, Donnell (Loretta) Steinfort; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation is Friday, September 11, 2015 from 5-8pm at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral Service is 11:00am on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Adams Lutheran Church in Batesville.
