Dorothy Hawley Nichols Cooley, age 77 years of Batesville, IN passed away Sunday, January 21, 2007 at her daughters home at Lake Santee. Born March 4, 1929 in Madison, WI she was the daughter of the late Merle Starr & Bessie (Hawley) Nichols. She married Harold Leon Cooley on August 21, 1948. She was the owner of Cardinal Agency and The Ark. She loved well the people of this community since moving here to Batesville in 1960. She enjoyed friendships with people of all walks of life and invested herself in the lives of others. Mrs. Cooley is survived by her children Susan & Gregg Stein, Ted & Kathy Cooley, Greg & Sharon Cooley, Ann & Randy Salatin & Beth & Eric Roberds; 19 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and sister Ann Earl of Hilton Head, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Cooley on July 1, 1995; her brother George Nichols and her sister Jane Ferm. The family invites you, her people, to a celebration of her life at Huntersville St. John's United Church of Christ. The visitation is on Friday, January 26th from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services Saturday, January 27, 10:00 AM. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Phi Beta Psi Cancer Research or The Hansen Center to support cancer services for patients.
