Earl G. Collins

Earl G. Collins, 93, of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was born on June 4, 1933, in Bath, Knott County, Kentucky, the son of Millard and Clova (Pigmon) Collins. On July 16, 1954, Earl married Alice Grossman. Together they shared a long marriage until Alice preceded him in death. He remained devoted to the family they built.

Earl proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. After completing his military service, he went to work for Hill-Rom, where he remained for 40 years. His long career reflected the same steadiness and work ethic that defined the rest of his life.

Away from work, Earl found joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and took pleasure in the simple beauty of nature. Those who knew him will remember him as a storyteller — someone who could sit and talk, share a memory, and leave people smiling.

Earl is survived by his children, Gary (Mary) Collins, Steve Collins, Brenda (Kevin) Meyer, and Tim (Sandy) Collins; his grandchildren, Christopher Collins, Audrey Collins, Amanda Weaver, Justin Collins, Natalie Hicks, and Bridget Collins; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Ernest (Elizabeth) Collins; his sisters, Eunice (Larry) Bryant and Phyllis (Bobby) Laker; and his sister-in-law, Cindy Collins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his parents; and his siblings Galley Collins, Clara Buck, Raymond Collins, and Vella Leidecker.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Rossburg Cemetery in New Point, Indiana, with military honors conducted by Batesville VFW Post #3183 and Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271.
