Edna Flannery, 89, of Batesville, IN passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011. She was born February 22, 1922 to Carson and Dora (Caudill) Back in Hazard, KY. She married William B. Flannery on October 28, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1979. Survivors include her six daughters - Carol (Jim) Shackleford, Mae (Ed) Baldrick, Helen (Steve) Carder, Rhonda (Jude) Belter, Joan (Dan) Schornick, and Terry (Paul) Messerschmidt; five sons - Virgil "Bud" (Holly) Flannery, William (Ginger) Flannery, Dennis "Jake" (Nancy) Flannery, Don (Teri) Flannery, and James (Kathie) Flannery; one sister -Nellie (Drew) Mise; along with 27 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death was her daughter Altona Flannery; her brothers Edgar, Estill, Alvin, Ollie, Thomas and Sam Back and sisters Mollie West and Lula Davidson. Edna was a member of Batesville Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends playing board games and corn hole. Edna never knew a stranger. She loved and was loved by all. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 14th, 2011 at Batesville Baptist Church on State Road 229 from 1 - 4 pm. Funeral service immediately following at 4pm in the church. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Batesville Baptist Church or Phi Beta Psi Cancer Research Fund.
