Esther A. Cox, age 88 of Metamora, IN passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville, IN. She was born on February 28, 1926 in Metamora, IN and was the daughter of George F. & Martha Ellen (Peters) Abshear.

Esther married Emanuel Ray Cox on December 24, 1945 in Connersville, IN and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2004. She retired from the Laurel General Store as a cashier. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Falmouth, IN and a member of the Brookville Chapter 66 Order of the Eastern Star.

Esther is survived by her daughter Jeanette (Joseph) Cox-Mills of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Joseph Mills Jr., Wendy Barger & Rachel Robinson and great grandchildren William Michael Barger, Ashley Noel Barger, Price Arnold Robinson & Michaela Kathryn Robinson. She will also be missed by her brother Andrew Abshear of Peppertown, IN and many nieces & nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Linda Lou Cox and her siblings Virgil Abshear, Herschel Abshear, James Abshear, Beachman Abshear, Beatrice Schuneman & Elizabeth Cockerham.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 11am until time of services at 1pm at Meyers Funeral Home, 1150 State Road 46 E, Batesville, IN with Brother Rob Edwards officiating. Burial will follow services in Peppertown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Peppertown Cemetery c/o Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
