Florence Louise Wessel (Placke)age 92, passed away on March 10, 2013 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. She was the daughter of Oscar & Louise Placke (Belter) and was born on May 12, 1920 in Batesville. Florence and her 3 siblings were dealt a tragedy when their mother passed away at an early age. But with the help of a caring extended family and a loving father, the children flourished and built 4 more strong families that thrive today. Florence was married to Ervin Wessel on June 29, 1940. They shared a long happy loving life together for 55 years until Ervin's death. Florence is survived by her daughter Patricia (Roger) Cassiere and son Robert (Sharon) Wessel. Also surviving are her 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and their families; Chris & Lee Cassiere, Greg & Michelle Cassiere with great grandson Mason, Steve Cassiere, Scott & Tina Cassiere with great grandchildren Sara & AJ, Chris & Brandy Wessel with great grandson Dalen Wessel & Alex Jolly, and granddaughter Heather Wessel and John Leffler. Also surviving is her brother Irvin Placke & his wife Lois, with many nieces & nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Viola Borchelt & brother Richard (Lucylle) Placke. Her passion & gift was cooking and it showed in her professional working life. She worked at the local school as a cook as well as the Hillcrest Golf & Country Club and New Point Truck Stop. She dedicated her life to her children & grandchildren and will be missed & loved forever. Florence was a loyal member of the United Church of Christ, Huntersville where she will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Visitation will be Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 10am until time of services at 12 noon all at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial will be in St. John Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew's Activities Fund or St. John UCC c/o Meyers Funeral Home. The family also wants to acknowledge the care & love she received at the St. Andrews Nursing facility with all the staff. Without their professionalism & love, Florence's life would not have been as full & bright as it was. Thank you so much!
