Floyd Arthur Roell, 72, of Batesville, IN, passed away unexpectedly Saturday September 2, 2023, at his home.

He was born, March 21, 1951, in Batesville, IN to Maurice and Dorthey (Harmeyer) Roell.  He was married to Marta (Bedel) Roell on November 11, 1978 at St. Louis Church in Batesville.  Together they had two children Jason and Megan Roell.

Floyd spent four years in the United States Airforce and was a lifelong farmer. The 1969 Batesville High School graduate also worked for Batesville Casket Company for many years before he retired.

In his free time, he enjoyed taking rides in his hot rod and drinking ice-cold beers with his friends. He was a proud Papaw and you could commonly find him cheering for his grandkids on the sidelines of sporting events or spoiling them with treasures they would find at the sale barn.

He is survived by his wife, Marta of Batesville, IN; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Holly of Batesville, IN; daughter, Megan of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Ryan and Aubree Roell; and two brothers, Donnie and Marvin Roell both of Batesville, IN.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Roell.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7th from 9 - 11 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Rock Catholic Church in Batesville. Services will follow immediately after. The burial will be at St. Mary's of the Rock Cemetery with military honors, conducted by the Batesville VFW Post #3183 and Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's of the Rock Preservation Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by bringing to services or mailing to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
