Frieda Augusta Jessup, age 92, of Belleville, IL and formerly of Batesville, IN passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, with her daughters at her side, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, IL. In September of 2004 Frieda moved from Sunman, IN to Belleville, IL to be near her daughters. She was born, June 23, 1917, in Bruning, NE the daughter of Sherman and Louise (Johnson) Schoenholz. Frieda was united in marriage to Donald Jessup, September 14, 1947 in Bruning, NE and together they shared over fifty-two years of marriage until his death, July 3, 2000. For many years she was an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Batesville, IN. She was a member of the church Alter Guild, always taking part in church activities including the many church dinners and the annual rummage sales. She loved cooking for her family and was known for her homemade noodles and cinnamon rolls. She was a loving wife and mother and was always busy caring for the needs of her family and her home. In her early years she worked in the Post Exchange at the Bruning Air Force Base and later was a cook at the Batesville Hospital and for many years did laundry and ironing in her home. In later years she was an avid reader and spent many happy and busy hours doing embroidery work. Frieda will be missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her four children, Pamala L. "Pam" Wilson and her husband, Bob of Creal Springs, IL, David Jessup and his wife, Dianne of Fisher, IN, Steven Jessup and his wife, Tammy of New Castle, IN and Cheryle Pierson of Fairview Heights, IL; four grandchildren, Shannon Landis and her husband, Brad, serving in the Coast Guard her grandson, Aaron Jessup and his wife, Pascale, granddaughter, Emily Jessup and United States Army Major Justin Pierson and his wife, Angela; three great-grandchildren, Forrest Landis, Lauren Landis and Faith Pierson; one sister, Velma Haugens of Toluca, IL several nieces and nephews, other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Jessup; her twin sister, Bertha Schoenholz who died at birth; sister, Fern Schoenholz who died in 1918 at age five and her brother, Glenn Schoenholz who died in the late seventies. Arrangements for Frieda A. Jessup have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, of Marion, IL with the Meyers Funeral Home assisting the family in Batesville, IN with the funeral service. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Batesville, IN with Rev. Jill Kepler Campbell, Pastor presiding. Visitation for the family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in St. Mark's Church Cemetery, next to her husband Don, in Batesville, IN. For those who prefer, memorials may be made to the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Batesville, IN.
