Gary Lee Brandes, age 65 of Batesville, Indiana passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019.  The son of Ralph Brandes Jr. and Clara (nee: Centers) Brandes was born on March 24, 1954 in Milan, IN. In 1973 he graduated from Milan High School.  Gary married Doris Jean (nee: Faust) Brandes in 1985 in Batesville.

"Lucky" as his driver friends would know him, enjoyed being a truck driver for Hill-Rom. He received his 3 million mile safe driving award in 2018. He also enjoyed working outdoors, fishing and spending time with his Milan buddies.  He was an avid Colts fan who never knew a stranger. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Jason (Angela) Brandes, Katie Brandes (and her fiancé Chris), Doug Fredrick (and his girlfriend Libby), Lisa (David) Reames; grandchildren, Lucas, Marcus, Allison, Ovie and Hazel; Siblings, Linden Brandes, Ralph Brandes III and Greg Brandes along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Jr. and Clara Brandes.

Visitation will be Monday, May 13, 2019 from 4 pm – 8 pm with funeral services on Tuesday, May 14 ^th at 10 am with doors opening at 9 am all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville.  Burial to follow in the Old Milan Cemetery with Pastor Chris Renick officiating.

Memorials may be given in memory to the American Breast Cancer Foundation and the American Heart Association c/o the funeral home.
