Gary Glenn Sauerwein, age 56 of Peppertown, Indiana passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 15, 2014. He was born on October 20, 1957 to William and Betty (Griffin) Sauerwein in Los Angeles, California. They both survive in Batesville, IN. Gary married his wife Kathy Rosfeld in Versailles, IN on February 18, 1978. The U.S. Navy veteran enlisted in the Navy at 16 years old with the help of his parents, and served during the Vietnam War. Gary loved music. He loved playing his guitar, and played with a popular local group called Tuxx in the 80's. Motorcycles and cars were also favorite hobbies of Gary's. He enjoyed riding his bikes. Gary owned both a Goldwing and a Harley along with 2 corvettes. Mostly he loved his family and being with them. He cherished his granddaughters and will be missed by all of his family and his many friends. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kathy, daughters Heather (Brad) Davis of Yuma, AZ and Niki Sauerwein of Peppertown, his son Justin Sauerwein of Peppertown and granddaughters Ella and Maddie Davis. Along with his brother Steve Sauerwein of Brookville, IN and four sisters Jacqui Haynes of South Carolina, Linda and Vivian Schwab, both of Brookville and Rhonda Murdock of Hidden Valley Lake, IN. Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 4-7pm with the Funeral Service immediately following at 7pm all at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Col. Harold Shackelford officiating with military services directly after at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to ABATE of Indiana c/o the funeral home.
