Gladys Ethel Johnston, age 93 years of Batesville, IN formerly Indianapolis, IN passed away Friday, February 16, 2007 in Batesville. Born April 7, 1913 in Fishers, IN she was the daughter of the late Perry & Bertha (Casstevens) Anderson. She graduated in 1931 from Carmel High School & retired from L.S. Ayers. She married James Johnston on Nov. 6, 1940 at Union Chapel Methodist Church in Indianapolis, IN. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ & was an elder and active member until becoming ill. Mrs. Johnston is survived by her son David Johnston of Batesville, IN & daughter Julie Johnston of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Holly Kuykendall, Rachel Johnston & Andrew Johnston; great grandson Luke Kuykendall. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Clifford, Harold, Fred & Robert Anderson and sister Helen Earle. Visitation will be Monday, February 19, 2007 from 5-8 PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN and also Tuesday, February 20, 2007 from 12:30-2:00 PM at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Carmel, IN. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 2:00 PM at St. Peter United Church of Christ with Rev. Larry Kleiman officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN. Memorials are suggested to St. Peters Church or Ripley Crossing c/o the funeral home.
