Hunting and trapping were two of his favorite activities and his gun was often with him. He taught all his children to hunt, although he would usually take his daughter Bev trapping instead. His family recalls that his game or catch had to be cleaned correctly, "If you can't do it right, don't do it" he would say. Trap & skeet shooting were another favorite pastime of his. During winter months Harold enjoyed searching for walnuts and hickory nuts and listening to Big Band Music. Although he was a very busy man, he always had time to spend with his family, who was very important to him.
