Helen Frances Herd (nee,Doyle), passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010, 79 years of age at the University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born April 14, 1930 in Batesville, Indiana to James and Goldie (White) Doyle. On May 17, 1946 Helen married John Henry Herd in Covington, Kentucky. Helen had various hobbies but especially liked to work in her flower garden and making crafts. Her family thought she was a good cook. The retired Batesville Casket Company employee was also known for her love of animals. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Mae Hawkins (Edward) of Rome, GA; sons William H. Herd (Patty) of New Point, IN and Douglas W. Herd (Nancy) of Napoleon, IN; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; brother James Doyle (Mary Rose) of Oldenburg, IN; and sister Martha Geier (Late Joe) of St. Leon, IN. In adition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband in December 2006, one grandson and one sister Leona Walterman. Visitation, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 4-7pm and Funeral Services, Thursday at 11am with all being held at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Pastor Mark Vice of New Point Christian Church officiating with burial to follow in the Rossburg Cemetery. Memorials may be given to New Point Christian Church c/o the funeral home.
