Obituary

Jack Richard Vest, age 89, formerly of Harrison, Ohio passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at his home in Westminster Village North, Indianapolis, IN. He was born on February 27, 1923 in Bloomfield, IN to Parmer and Pearl (McClaren) Vest. During World War II, Jack served in the Army Air Corp as crew chief of a C47. He married his love, Jean Stewart on November 20, 1948. From 1953 to 1971 Jack worked at Fernald and then for Gulf Oil in Hooven,OH where he eventually retired from. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harrison and of the American Legion, JB Yeager Post 199, both of Harrison, Ohio. Jack was also a member of the Bloomfield Lodge #84 F&AM (Indiana) along with the Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Jean; his children, Gail L. McNierney (John) of New Palestine, IN, Marianne Vest of Chagrin Falls, OH and Richard Vest (Terry) of Stewart, OH; along with five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Duke. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 6, 3:00pm at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis for fellow friends of the community. Then a visitation on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 10:00am until time of the funeral service at 11:30am, all at the First Presbyterian Church in Harrison, OH with Phyllis Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Haven Cemetery, Harrison, OH with military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Harrison's Building Fund c/o the funeral home.
