Jacqueline May Hunt, formerly of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Harrison Trail Health Campus in Harrison, Ohio. She was 80 years old.
Jacque was born on September 4, 1942 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of John Gilbert and Katherine Roudebush Hunt. She attended Harrison, OH schools grades K-10 and graduated from Alcoa (TN) High School in 1960. She earned B.S. and M.M.E. degrees in music education from George Peabody College in Nashville, TN.
Jacque was a band director for 34 years and taught at West Fulton High School and North Springs High School in the Atlanta, GA area before moving to Kokomo in 1969 to teach at Northwestern Jr-Sr High School until her retirement in 1998.
She played clarinet in the Atlanta Community Orchestra, Kokomo Symphony Orchestra and Kokomo Park Band. Multiple summers were spent touring Europe with the U.S. Collegiate Wind Bands as a director on staff. She was very active at Grace United Methodist Church in Kokomo with special interest in the Chamber Ensemble and instrumental in the church sound system for many years. She was a Regent in the General James Cox Chapter of DAR and also a past President and founding member of Women Band Directors International.
She is survived by one sister, Marilyn H. Bourquein of Harrison, OH; one niece, Taaron Meyers and husband Rodger of Batesville, IN; one nephew, Tay Bourquein of Indianapolis; two great nephews, Grant and Kent Meyers and one great niece, Mallory Bourquein.
Visitation will be Friday, February 17, 2023 from 4-6:00pm with funeral services at 6:00pm all at First Presbyterian Church, 115 Vine St., Harrison, OH. Rev. Joshua Long officiating. Burial will be 11:00am on Saturday, February 18th at Glen Haven Cemetery in Harrison.
