James Reinecke Johnston, age 89 of Batesville, IN formerly of Indianapolis, IN passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Ripley Crossing Health Center in Milan, IN. Born August 2, 1915 in Indianapolis, IN he was the son of James Garfield & Bertha (Reinecke) Johnston. Mr. Johnston retired as secretary-treasure at American Income Life Insurance Co., was recognized as National Friend of 4H, active at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Carmel and at the Association Level. He married Gladys Anderson on November 5, 1940 at Union Chapel Methodist Church in Indianapolis, IN and was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife Gladys Johnston, son David (Bonnie) Johnston of Batesville, IN and daughter Julia Johnston of Carmel, IN; grandchildren Holly Kuykendall, Rachel Johnston and Andrew Johnston. Visitation will be Sunday, April 24, 2005 from 3-8pm at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN and also on Monday April 25, 2005 from 12 noon-2 pm at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Carmel. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Larry Kleiman officiating. Memorials are suggested to St. John United Church of Christ in Batesville or Ripley Crossing in Milan, IN. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN
