James Wonning passed away on his 91st birthday, February 17, 2010 at The Waters of Batesville. Born February 17, 1919 in Ballstown, IN he is the son of the late Irvin & Anna (Kesseler) Wonning. He married Mabel C. Huneke at Finks Church near Napoleon, IN on August 29, 1940. On October 25, 2004, his wife, Mabel C. Wonning passed away. He retired from Batesville Casket Co in 1982. Jim liked to buy old rusted trucks, fix them up & drive them around for a while then sell them for more than he invested in them. He considered this his hobby. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Crossroads and FOE 1130 Batesville. Mr. Wonning is survived by his sons Gary (Jeanne) Wonning of Sarasota, FL & Paul (Lynne) Wonning of Batesville, IN. He will also be missed by his granddaughters Annette Martin, Tamie Wonning & Wendy Blank; 5 great grandchildren & 1 great great granddaughter. Visitation will be Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 10am until time of funeral services at 12 noon all at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Robin Owen officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church c/o Meyers Funeral Home.
