Jay Norman Gibbs, age 73 years of Harrison, OH passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009 at his home. Born March 18, 1936 in Muncie, IN he was the son of the late Albert R. & Kathryn (Klopfer) Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs was a 1954 graduate of Muncie Central, 1964 graduate of Butler University of Pharmacy. He was a registered Pharmacist of Indiana, retired Army Colonel of 34 years and member of the Ohio National Guard. He was an active member for over 35 years at First Presbyterian Church in Harrison, OH and Elder. He was a member of the Alumni Board at Butler University and Ovid Butler Society. He retired from in 1995 after 31 years from Eli Lilly in Pharmaceutical Sales. Jay is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean (Lowe) Gibbs; daughter Jennifer (Troy) Embree of West Chester, OH & son Jeff (Judy) Gibbs of Harrison, OH. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Patrick, Stuart & Kaitlyn Gibbs, Luke & Mia Embree. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Jean Imes and brothers Everett & William R. Gibbs. Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 2-5pm at First Presbyterian Church, Harrison, OH. Services will be Monday, December 21, 2009 at 1:00pm at the church with Rev. Glenn Baaten officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Harrison Funeral Detail. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation c/o the funeral home.
