Jean Cross, age 89 years of Sunman, IN passed away Sunday, August 9, 2009 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville, IN. Born November 21, 1919 in Cincinnati, OH she was the daughter of the late John & Dorothy (Thomas) Johnson. She was a 1937 graduated from Withrow High School in Cincinnati and 1967 graduate of Courter Tech. She is a retired LPN from Providence Hospital in Cincinnati. She married Robert Cross on July 3, 1940 in Cincinnati and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2006. She was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Penntown, IN, a member of the Ladies Aid at church and College Hill Order Eastern Star. Mrs. Cross is survived by her daughters Christine (Darrel) Richter of Sunman, IN and Joan (Gary) Williams of Miami, FL and son John (Sharon) Cross of San Angelo, TX. She will also be missed by 14 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Robert L. Cross and sisters Ruth Cast & Anna Ryan. Visitation will be Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 10am-11am at St. John United Church of Christ in Penntown, IN followed by services at 11am with Rev. Peter Frye & Rev. Juanita Wallpe officiating. Burial will be in St. John Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John Church or Rescue 20 in Sunman, IN c/o the funeral home.
