Obituary

Jenna Nicole Henderson went to be with Jesus on Sunday, October 2, 2016.  She was born on April 30, 1986 in Louisville, KY.  On September 15, 2012 she married Scott Henderson in Lexington, KY and they reside in Batesville, Indiana.

As a teenager, Jenna had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer twice, and went into complete remission both times.  During her treatments at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Jenna began dreaming of caring for pediatric cancer patients.  Almost simultaneously, Jenna became involved in the ministry of Young Life in high school, where she began following Jesus.  After graduating Dixie High School in 2004, she attended and received her Nursing Degree from the University of Kentucky.  Realizing her dream, Jenna worked for Cincinnati Children's Hospital as a pediatric nurse in the CBDI Clinic, providing care for children battling cancer.  Known also for loving beautiful things, Jenna began capturing images for her small business JennaNicolePhotography.com .

Because her most momentous decision was to follow Jesus, Jenna committed her life to sharing the gospel in the same venue where she first heard it, by volunteering as a Young Life leader.  For over 13 years, Jenna walked in the lives of high school students as she proclaimed the grace of Jesus, to which she dearly clung.

Jenna was gifted at seeing the beauty in everyone she met.  She viewed it a privilege to pray for and share her faith with family, high school students, co-leaders, oncology patients, coworkers and friends. Innumerable people consider themselves indebted to Jenna for faithfully demonstrating the gospel and know Jesus intimately by her words and example.

Jenna is truly missed by her loving husband, Scott, her parents Roy (Sondra) Gilfedder of Nashville, TN and Karen Gilfedder of Erlanger, KY, her brother Scott (Kamilla) Gilfedder of Lexington, KY, her nieces and nephews Coen, Burke & Adalyn along with her father & mother-in-law Mike & Deb Henderson of Greenville, OH, brother & sister-in-law, Ryan & Leah Henderson of Brookville, OH and numerous friends.

Visitation will be Friday, October 7, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00pm followed by a celebration of Jenna's life, all at Crossroads Uptown, 42 Calhoun St., Cincinnati, OH 45219. There is limited parking on the street and additional parking at Corry Garage, 2529 Scioto Ln., Cincinnati, OH 45219.

Graveside services will be 10:30am on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Greenville Union Cemetery, 200 West St., Greenville, OH 45331.

In lieu of flowers, Jenna's wishes were that donations be made to the following organizations:

Jenna Henderson Young Life Memorial Endowment Fund

Ever since Jenna gave her life to Christ at a Young Life camp, she has been passionate about sharing God's love with kids. She devoted her life to reaching kids with the gospel and believed the best way to do that was to take kids to Young Life camp every year. Young Life Camp gives kids the opportunity to hear about God in terms that they can understand, gives them the opportunity to spend time with their Leaders who care about and listen to them, and provides an opportunity for them to respond to Christ's love.

A memorial endowment fund has been set up in Jenna's name that will provide scholarships to kids who would otherwise not be able to attend camp every year. To give to this endowment fund go to www.jennayl.com .

Jenna's Rare Ovarian Cancer Research

A team of medical professionals at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota have been tirelessly researching Jenna's specific cancer type to help identify treatments and hopefully discover a cure. Jenna was passionate about this and would appreciate any donations made to support this effort.

Checks can be made out to Children's Minnesota with OTST and Jenna Henderson in the memo .  Gifts can also be made online at www.childrensmn.org/give . Donors should select "other" under gift designation and type in OTST and Jenna Henderson .
