Obituary

Jerome V. Brinkman, age 87 of Batesville, Indiana passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at his home. He was born on February 14, 1928 in Oldenburg, Indiana to William and Emma (Niese) Brinkman. On September 8, 1951 he married Marilyn Baumer in Oldenburg, IN. She died on March 14, 2012. Jerome was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. After many years he retired from the Batesville Water & Gas Utility in 1990. He was a member of St. Louis Church, VFW Post #3183 and past member of the American Legion Post #271. Some of Jerry's enjoyments in life included playing Skip-Bo with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as playing cards with the 'Boys' at the Bowery. Jerry will be remembered for his countless practical jokes he played on others, his passion for the Reds and the History Channel. The time, advice, wisdom and love he provided for those he cared for and cherished, will never be forgotten. He is survived by his son, Tom (Rosa) Brinkman, daughter Karla Binder & Kathy (late Buddy) Riley; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; along with his sister Anna Mae Osier. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Neukam ; brothers William, Annas, Melvin & John Brinkman and sisters Blanche Coburn & Arlene Moorman. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 11-1pm with funeral service and military honors immediately following at 1:00pm all at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Memorials may be given to the Batesville Food Pantry or Margaret Mary Hospice c/o the funeral home.
