Judy Pauline Groce, 83, passed away on September 9, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Franklin County, Indiana, surrounded by family.

Judy was born at home in Alpine, Indiana, on May 9, 1943, to John and Edith Friend. She was a 1961 graduate of Connersville High School.

She married the love of her life, Charles Anderson Groce, on September 3, 1961, at Village Creek Baptist Church in Connersville, Indiana. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2022. Together they were wonderful role models for their children and grandchildren in how to love and be loved.

Judy devoted her working life to healthcare and retired from Margaret Mary Hospital in 2016.

She is survived by her sister, Roberta Spurlock of Connersville; two brothers-in-law, Howard Vaughn and Dean Selby, both of Connersville; two daughters, Teresa (Paul) DeHaven of Laurel, Indiana, and Jeanna (Roman) Nobbe of Batesville, Indiana; and two sons, Charles (Cheryl) Groce Jr. and David Groce, both of Brookville, Indiana.

She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Clark (Karissa) DeHaven, Rachel (Robert) Schlemmer, Joseph (Priscilla) DeHaven, Max (Shelby) DeHaven, Roman (Sarah) Nobbe, Bradley Nobbe, Charles (Whitney) Groce III, Christopher Groce (Kelsey Solsberry), Dustin Groce (Deidre Klingman), Judy Coomer, and Rebecca (Joshua) Fischer. She is further survived by 23 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Judy was happy to welcome her first great-great-grandchild in August, with two more on the way.

She was welcomed into heaven by her parents; her husband; three siblings, Sadie Freytag of Roanoke, Indiana, Linda Selby and John Friend, both of Connersville; and one grandson, Joshua Nobbe.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Dale Cemetery at a later date.
