Julia M. Heaney, age 90, formerly of Indianapolis, IN passed away in her home in Batesville, IN on February 3, 2005. She was born on March 27, 1914 in San Francisco, CA to Thomas & Julie Reidy, Irish immigrants from Kerry County, Ireland. Her parents died when she was a young child and she moved to Indianapolis where she was raised by her adoptive parents, Michael & Mary Hackett. Julia married James E. Heaney who preceded her in death in 1969. She worked as an apartment manager for many years. Later in life, Julia served as a volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul Society in Indianapolis. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, IN. Julia is survived by two sons, William M. (Evelyn) Payne and James M. (Sue) Heaney, 7 grandchildren Michael (Virgie) Payne, Kathryn (John) Schuerman, Stephen (Margaret) Payne, Susan Payne, Llanea (Brad) Imel, Laura Heaney and James E. Heaney; 16 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Payne, who died as an infant and 3 brothers William, Jerome & Thomas Reidy. Julia was loved by all who knew her for her sense of humor, generosity and kindness toward others. One of her most cherished memories was a trip made to her family homeland in Ireland in 1999, where she established kinships that had been lost over the years. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and shared that love with her family. Visitation will be on Monday, February 7, 2005 from 9 10:30 AM at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Louis Church in Batesville. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Indianapolis.
