Julia Christine
Horninger
Jul 25, 1993 — Mar 24, 2014
Julia Christine Horninger, age 20, of Brookville passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and beloved pets, in the early morning hours of March 24, 2014 after a hard-fought struggle with cancer. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 25, 1993, she was the second daughter of Tom and Mary (Amrhein) Horninger. She is survived by both parents, older sister Amelia Jarrett (Dane), older brother Matthew, and younger brother Decker.
As a young child, Julia's vivacious spirit, no-nonsense attitude, and incredible talent led her family to believe she would one day grace the stage. She attended high school at Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception where she was an active participant in the Performing Arts. She sang with both the Concert Choir and Academy Singers, played violin in the orchestra, played the piano, and acted in numerous school productions, most memorably as the step-mother in Oldenburg Academy's production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella .
Julia was currently attending the Aveda Fredric's Institute in Cincinnati. There, surrounded by the nail polish, hair products, and make up she loved, she truly found her niche. Julia loved to style hair and hoped to one day use her talents to find a place as a stylist for the movies in Hollywood.
Julia was diagnosed with Sporadic Burkitt's Lymphoma on August 8, 2013. No matter how difficult her battle was, her infectious smile and laughter, warm heart, and positive attitude inspired all who knew her. Many describe her as the bravest person they know.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 8:30-11am and the Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30am. Burial will be at a later date in St. Michael Cemetery, Brookville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Oldenburg Academy where they will be used to establish a scholarship in Julia's memory.
Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, Indiana is handling all arrangements and on-line condolences may be made at www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
