Kendall Vernon Gunter, age 74 of Batesville, IN passed away at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH on Thursday, August 27, 2015. Kendall was born on September 21, 1940 in Batesville, IN and was the son of the late Vernon & Edna (Richter) Gunter. He married Janet Sturwold on September 21, 1963 in Penntown, IN. Ken was a member of the Adams Lutheran Church and the American Paint Horses Assoc. In 1959 Ken started his excavating business. Over the years Ken worked on many jobs with his brothers, nephews, and sons. Ken enjoyed hunting quail, rabbit, and pheasant. Later in life he took up camping and riding horses with family and friends. Ken was known for his love of raising paint horses. In 1979 Ken quit farming to focus on excavation. He continued in excavation until 2009. After retirement, Ken stayed busy with working on the farm and selling outdoor wood furnaces. Ken was known to always spoil his grandkids or any other child with candy or sweets. He also always had a cold beverage for the adults. He will be missed by all who knew him. Kendall is survived by his wife Janet Gunter; children Marla (Matt) Nobbe, Darren (Anita) Gunter, Betty (Clarence) Shupe, Steve Gunter, Angie (Luke) Pierson & Rhonda (Dan) Dickman. He will also be missed by his 16 grandchildren & 1 great grandson along with his sister Lavonne Huber and sisters-in-law Violet, Mary & Eileen Gunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Velma Belter, brothers Harold, Mervin, Estal, Dale, Allen Gunter & Bobby Gunter who died as an infant, brothers-in-law Wilbur Huber & Alvin Belter and sister-in-law Mable Gunter. Visitation will be Monday, August 31, 2015 from 4-8pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 11:00am also at the funeral home with Rev.
