Lynn Loichinger, 76, of Sunman, Indiana, will be remembered as a loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a mother figure to the many children she encountered throughout her life. She was born September 1, 1950, to Harry and Anna Rotert. She passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at home, surrounded by her family.
Lynn loved her children, gardening, flowers, family, her church, and God. She was the definition of kindness, had a strong faith in God, and always thought of others before herself. She had a heart of gold and a gift for making everyone feel loved and welcome. Whether it was lending a helping hand, offering a kind word, or simply being there for someone, Lynn always put others first.
She found happiness in her garden, surrounded by the flowers she loved, but her greatest joy was always her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were her pride and joy.
Lynn’s love extended far beyond her own family. She was a mother figure to so many children and touched countless lives with her warmth, generosity, and compassion. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she lived each day with a grateful heart and a willingness to help anyone in need.
Lynn is survived by her seven children: John (Dyan) Loichinger, Lenee (Greg) Bohman, Joe (Shannon) Loichinger, Jerry Loichinger, Jacob (Jessica) Loichinger, Leslie (Chris) Baker, and Leanne (Evan) Jenner.
She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren: Liz, Ean, Eli, Dempsy, Chloe, Graham, Noah, Caleb, Ashtin, Paige, Keira, Bailey, Delanie, Sophie, Charlie, Annie, and Henry; and one great-grandchild, James. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Louis, and brothers-in-law, Rick and David Loichinger.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Loichinger; her sister, Laurie; her brother, Terry; and her beloved grandson, Ollie.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Margaret Mary Hospital, Dr. Martini, and especially Margaret Mary Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and care.
Friends and family may gather for a Rosary at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at St. Paul’s Church in New Alsace, Indiana. Visitation will follow from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:30 a.m. with Father John Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Oldenburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Though Lynn may no longer be with us, the love she planted in the hearts of her family and everyone she encountered will continue to grow. Her garden may no longer be tended by her hands, but the seeds of kindness, faith, and unconditional love she planted throughout her life will bloom for generations to come.
Her family was her greatest blessing, and she will forever be theirs. She often said, “I was not rich in money, but rich with family and love.” Those words truly reflected the way she lived her life and what mattered most to her.
Please feel free to leave a memory or message of comfort for Lynn’s family in the online guestbook.
