Mable Lelah Selke, age 96 of Batesville, IN passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg, IN. Born to Joseph Henry Larrison and Jenny Amilia (nee: Woods) Larrison on March 15, 1919 in Decatur County, IN. She married Melvin Herman Selke on February 24, 1938 in Adams Lutheran Church, Batesville.
Lelah (as she was known to most) and Melvin lived on their farm at the edge of Batesville for 66 years and 4 months before he passed away, on June 11, 2004 at the age of 87. She continued to live there until March 2013. There together they raised three sons.
Lelah was baptized in the First Christian Church when she was twelve years old and later became a member of the Adams Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Batesville #348 for over 50 years as she filled stations for each point of the star. Lelah was a life member of the Ancient Order of Rosicrucians, completing all 12 degrees and continuing on with the higher work of this international order. She was then initiated into the Martinist Order which is affiliated with Rosicrucian Order (AMORC). In 1972 she became a member of Astara, passing through all 8 degrees and continued her work in this esoteric and metaphysical body. She was a member of the 700 Club and CBN and supported their work faithfully.
Lelah is survived by her three sons, Melvin Eugene (Colleen), Robert Earl and Donald Lee (Jane) Selke, along with her six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Harold and sister Martha Louise.
Visitation is Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 5-8pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Funeral Services are 1:30pm on Thursday, April 10 th at Meyers Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Tornes officiating. Burial will follow at the Rossburg Cemetery, New Point, IN.
