Obituary

Marvin A. Thielking, age 84 of Batesville, IN passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. Born on April 24, 1929 in Batesville, IN he was the son of Louis & Marie (Siebert) Thielking.

On May 9, 1953 he married Dorothy L. Wishmeyer at St. Louis Church. Marvin was a life-long member of St. John United Church of Christ where he was involved in many of its activities and served as custodian for 20 years. Marvin was a 1947 graduate of Batesville High School, attended Ball State University and served his country in the US Army as an intelligence analyst during the Korea Conflict. He was a 60 year member of American Legion Post 271 in Batesville and on the BCSC School Board. He retired from Howard Barth & Associates in Greensburg as a Quality Control Manager.

He was an avid sports fan. He like IU Basketball, the Cincinnati Reds and attended many BHS sporting events.

Marvin is survived by his wife Dorothy L. Thielking, his son Ted (Kathy) Thielking of Columbus, OH and his daughter Beth Thielking of Indianapolis, IN. He will also be missed by his sisters-in-law Bette Thielking, Patricia Thielking and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Allen, Russel & Edward Thielking.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 10am until time of service at 1pm all at St. John United Church of Christ with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial with military honors will immediately follow services at St. John Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John Church Cemetery Fund or Rescue 10 EMS c/o Meyers Funeral Home.
