Mary Louise Shafer, age 79 of New Point, IN passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, IN. Born May 30, 1932 in Batesville, IN she was the daughter of the late Gayle & Helen (Schmocker) Dugle. She was married to Edward Shafer on May 16, 1953 in Greensburg, IN and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2009. She was a member of the New Point Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 927 in Greensburg, IN. She retired from Ross Point Plaza Truck Stop in New Point as their cashier. Mary loved to play cards, bowl and gamble, mainly pull tabs. She liked to cook, especially her most incredible dumplings and bread pudding, but most of all she was a wonderful wife, mom and grandma and will be missed by them very much. Mary is survived by her daughters Rebecca (Dale) Nobbe of Hamburg, IN, Barbara Mauer of New Point, IN & Paula Shafer of New Point, IN and her son Chuck (Marilyn) Shafer of New Point, IN. She will also be missed by her 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and siblings Joanne Schmitt of Cumberland, IN, Connie Newman of Texas, Bobby Dugle of Kentucky & Donnie Dugle of Kentucky. In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings Richard David, Denver, Paul & Gayle Jr Dugle, Betty Shafer, Judy Dugle, 1Marilyn Buck, Doloris Maple, Jean Reed & Sylvia Dugle. Visitation will be Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 4-7pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Funeral Services will be Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11:00am at New Point Christian Church with Mark Vice officiating. Burial will be in Rossburg Cemetery in New Point, IN.
