Melvin Joseph Brinkman, age 83 years of Batesville, IN passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 in Columbus, IN. Born Jan. 19, 1923 in Oldenburg, IN he was the son of the late William & Emma (Niese) Brinkman. Mr. Brinkman was founder and former owner of Brinkman Construction., a US Navy Veteran during WWII. He married Rosemary Herbert on June 12, 1948 at St. Maurice Church in Napoleon, IN. He was a member of St. Louis Church in Batesville, VFW Post 3183 Batesville & Knights of St. John. Mr. Brinkman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemary Brinkman; children David (Mary Beth) Brinkman of Batesville, IN; Steve Brinkman of Batesville, IN; Dan (Lisa) Brinkman of Indianapolis, IN; Dale (Carol) Brinkman of Batesville, IN Linda (Tom) Amberger of Greensburg, IN Carol (Steve) McGrath of Cincinnati, OH & Mary Kay Brinkman of Oldenburg, IN; grandchildren Chuck, Angie, Mark, Kimberly, Eric, Andy, Michael & Alex; great grandchildren Kevin, Nathan, Adam, Katie Rose, Connor & Mackenna; brother Jerry Brinkman of Batesville, IN and sister Anna Mae Osier of Batesville, IN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers William, Annas & John Brinkman and sisters Blanche Coburn & Arlene Moorman. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Louis Church in Batesville. Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2006 from 3-8 P.M. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial will be in St. Louis Church Cemetery with military graveside rites. Memorials are suggested to Batesville VFW or Batesville Rescue 10.
