Melvin Arthur Thie, age 71 years of Batesville, IN passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 in Indianapolis, IN. Born November 26, 1935 in Batesville he was the son of the late Alfred & Flora (Meyer) Thie. He was a lifelong farmer & US Army Veteran during Korea. He married Ruth Whalbring on September 10, 1960. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and the mens fellowship, past member of Sunday School & Church Board, member of Batesville Lodge 668 F&AM which he was past master. Mr. Thie is survived by his wife Ruth Thie, children Jennifer Huffmeyer, Eric Thie & John Thie of all of Batesville, IN; grandchildren Bridget, Montana, Rebecca & Sean Thie and Ashton Milne; brother Irvin Thie of Spearfish, SD, sisters Deloris Brebberman & Marty Hisrich both of Batesville. Visitation will be Monday, December 11, 2006 from 4-8 PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN with Masonic services at 8 PM. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 10:00 AM at St. John United Church of Christ in Batesville with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial will be in St. John Church Cemetery, Huntersville with military graveside rites. Memorials are suggested to the family.
