Melvin E. Yorn, age 90 of Batesville, IN passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 at St. Andrews Health Campus. He was born January 18, 1918 in Batesville to Lula E. (Yorn) Bessler. He married Evelyn S. Belter on June 27, 1948 in Indianapolis, IN. Mr. Yorn was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster for meritous Service in WWII. He served in the Pacific and European theater of operations. He worked as a Supervisor for Union Furniture Company and was a member of the Batesville United Methodist Church. He is survived by his sons Joel (Jane) Yorn of Indianapolis, Jon (Jane) Yorn of Oldenburg and Mark (Laurie) Yorn of Batesville; sister Helen Harmon of Batesville; 9 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren as well. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Yorn on June 12, 2003. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2008, 10:00am at Batesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Marhanka officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 6, from 5-7pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Burial will be in the Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Grave Side Rites. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association Central Indiana Chapter.
