Monroe "Monie" Westerfeld, age 94 years of Batesville, IN passed away Sunday, June 3, 2007 in Cincinnati, OH. Born August 2, 1912 in Decatur County, IN he was the son of the late William & Elizabeth (Barg) Westerfeld. He was a US Army Veteran during WWII with the 113th Ordinance Co. He married Eleanor Osting on Nov. 27, 1948 in Anderson, IN. Mr. Westerfeld was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church (Crossroads). He retired from Westerfeld Service & Repair in Batesville & later worked for The Herald Tribune. Mr. Westerfeld is survived by his children Ross (Theresa) Westerfeld of Columbus, IN; Gary (Jan) Westerfeld of Oldenburg, IN & Brent (Beth) Westerfeld of Carmel, IN; grandchildren Clayton, Patrick, Atticus, Audrey & Megan Westerfeld & Natalie Wanstrath; great grandchildren Ema, Isabella & Brady Westerfeld, Alyssa, Anna & Henry Wanstrath; brother William Westerfeld of Indianapolis, IN; sisters Ethel Parmer of Columbus, IN & Evelyn Parmer of Edinburg, IN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Westerfeld, grandson Aaron Westerfeld, brothers Clarence, Wilbur, Raymond & Howard Westerfeld & sister Mabel Bauer. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 6, 2007 from 4-8 PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN. Funeral Services will be Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Crossroads) with Pastor Robin Owen officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be in the St. Paul Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Batesville Food Pantry or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
