Nelson R. "Pappy" Bauman, age 95 of Batesville, IN passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 in Batesville. He was born on January 25, 1919 in Batesville and was the son of Roy & Mildred (Bishop) Bauman. He graduated from Batesville High School in 1937 and then proudly went on to serve his country in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He married Dorothy Dieckmann on November 8, 1947 and she preceded him in death on April 22, 2011.

Pappy retired from Canada Dry with over 50 years of service and became co-owner near the end of his career. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ Huntersville, where he also served on the church council. He was a member of both the Batesville VFW Post #3183 and American Legion Post #271. Pappy bowled on a league well into his 80's and loved being outdoors. He was a big sports fan, who especially loved the Cincinnati Reds. He believed Sundays were made for going out to breakfast with his friends and fishing.

Pappy is survived by his sons and their wives James & B.J. Bauman of Batesville and Mike & Michelle Bauman of Atlanta, GA. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Amanda Bauman, Emily (Colt) Weberding & Mark Doan along with several nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Bauman, his brother Dr. Paul Bauman and his sisters Rita Lindemann & Lois Kerker.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 12 noon until time of services at 2 pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Church Cemetery with military gravesite rites.
