Odette Patricia Merkel, age 55 of Batesville, Indiana died peacefully Sunday, January 6, 2019 at her home.  She was born August 10, 1963 in England, the daughter of Gerald Martin and Gillian (Kenning) Martin. Odette last worked at the Hampton Inn in Batesville, but for many years, she worked as a dental assistant.

Odette loved sewing and working in crafts and photography.  She especially loved her dog Bella, who was a rescue dog. Most of all, she was a very proud grandmother, mother and daughter.

Odette is survived by her father and step mother, Gerald and Michelle Martin of Batesville, her mother Gillian Martin of Sunman, her daughter, Jennifer Merkel of Morris, her grandson, Roman Meister and her ex-husband Rick Merkel of Morris; along with her siblings, Donna Martin (Eric Laflin), Michelle Gabbard (Justin) and Gerald Patrick Martin (Susan Caudill) all of Batesville.

Visitation is Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm at Meyers Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00AM on Thursday, January 10, 2019, 10 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Morris, IN.
